Acaena inermis `Purpurea' Biddibiddi, Piripiri
Attractive purple-leaved ground-hugging plant. Good tight growth habit. Excellent contrast plant. Tolerant of most soil types, prefers sunny site. Doesn't have the biddibiddi seedheads common to most species of this genus.

Agathis australis Kauri
Magnificent forest tree that due to its slow growth is suitable for the domestic garden. Does not take up too much room - some specimens of 10-15 years old may be 4.5m high with only a metre spread. Forms a slender, erect, single trunk tree with bronzy, green leathery, smooth leaves. Likes heavy soils rather than friable soil. Young plants require some shade. 6m high x 2.5m wide in ten years.

Alectryon excelsus Titoki
One of the outstanding New Zealand natives forming a fine spreading tree. Attractive, large, glossy light green leaves resemble those of the European Ash. Smooth dark trunk. Small scarlet fruit in summer are most ornamental. Prefers a sheltered situation and a well drained soil. Protect young plants from frost. Makes an excellent street tree or specimen. 7m high x 4m wide in 10 years.

Anemanthele lessoniana Bamboo/Wind Grass
Handsome golden-brown weeping grass. Attractive russet coloured plumes occur November to January and can reach 1m tall. Great for dry, shaded places. Excellent groundcover. Apply general fertiliser to give it a boost occasionally. 1m high x 1m wide.

Stunning native with bold architectural form. Broad, arching flax-like leaves have a distinct silvery sheen. On female plants the orange berries which follow summer flowering are highly ornamental. Grow in full sun or semi-shade in a rich well drained soil. Dislikes high humidity. Superb as a tub plant, in a mixed native garden or for mass planting. 1.5m.

Handsome native tree, found in lowland forests and along stream banks. Straight and erect with smooth, brown bark. Attractive olive-green foliage. Small flowers in late spring are followed in autumn by fleshy dark purple fruits which are relished by woodpigeons. Prefers dappled shade, a good moist soil and protection from strong winds. 10m.
