Shade Trees
Well summer can be a scorcher and those hot days make us realize the importance of shaded areas for our children, for our animals and for ourselves.

Trees have a number of advantages over manufactured shade structures : they are natures air conditioners and provide a cool shade space; they provide a habitat for birds; they reduce polution by absorbing carbon and producing oxygen; they beautify any environment; and they are cheaper than man-made structures.  Deciduous trees have the advantage of providing interest and colour, shade during the summer months and letting light through in the winter.

Here at Matatoa in the rain shadow of the Tararua ranges we have an excellent  growing seasons for our trees. We thoroughly recommend planting your trees in the autumn, winter or spring (during the cooler months) so come and see the large selection of deciduous trees that we have available. Make your selection for planting this autumn/winter and in the summers to come you too will be relaxing in the cool green shade of your lovely trees.

You can  easily find trees suitable for providing shade by ticking the box labelled Shade Tree’ in the Main Use Suitability section of the catalogue selection area and press search.  This will bring up all of the trees that have some suitability for shade that we have in our list.
